About Iron Maidens Golf Association

Iron Maidens Golf Association (IMGA) is a group of women who love the game of golf and want to see it flourish for women of all ages and ability levels in our community and above all, want to have some fun!

Golf has always been a male dominated sport focused on the male perspective of the game. But today, with the surge of attention on the LPGA, more and more women are turning to the game. Once a woman decides to start playing golf, there are few resources for her to find partners (outside of spouses) and improve her game. Whether you are a seasoned pro or just taking up the game, IMGA is for you.

Outside of our monthly Saturday outings, we hope to add weekly, bi-monthly or monthly scrambles during peak golfing months.

We would also like to do some really fun stuff outside of our scrambles such as:

  • Match Play tournaments
  • Big Break type Skill Challenges
  • Putting and Long Drive contests
  • Mixed Tournaments (Man/Woman)
Additionally...can you say "road trip"?  Let's plan to leave it all behind for a couple of days and play golf, socialize and just relax. There are so many wonderful golf resorts just outside our area that offer great golf getaways for a great price for small and large groups.

Initially, the association has set up tee times for the first few months in 2008 at area courses on a Saturday morning (see calendar for dates and location). Currently, there are no membership fees to join the association.  The fees will only be the course fees which will be posted on the calendar and $10.00 prize money pot for each outing. If we are playing at a course where you are a member and your green fees, cart or trail fees are included in your membership, you will only pay the prize money of $10.00 to play. Eventually, with the agreement of the association members, we hope to initiate a nominal membership fee that would cover the cost of becoming a legal non-profit organization that would function in our community raising funds for breast cancer awareness/treatment, helping under-privileged families and children, etc.

The immediate and future goals for the IMGA include:

  • To provide scheduled, organized golfing events, professional networking and social opportunities for our members at various area courses throughout the year on a monthly basis.

  • To provide clinics and professional instruction in golf education and player skill development.

  • To provide an atmosphere where women can grow professionally and personally through golf and great friendships.

  • To provide an opportunity for the organization to support local charitable causes.
